Allegations: During Richard Burrell, Jr.’s stay at Pompano Health and Rehabilitation Center, he was not properly monitored by staff. Due to the staff’s negligence, Mr. Burrell, Jr. suffered from the development of several bed sores, dehydration, and sepsis. In July of 2023, Mr. Burrell, Jr., along with his Power of Attorney, filed a nursing home negligence lawsuit against the facility.
Sharpe, Thomas K. E/O vs. Pompano Health and Rehabilitation Center
Allegations: The personal representative of Thomas Sharpe’s estate, Angela Sharpe, filed a lawsuit against Pompano Health and Rehabilitation Center in 2021. The lawsuit alleges that during his time at Pompano Health and Rehabilitation Center, Mr. Sharpe developed several decubitus ulcers (also known as bed sores or pressure ulcers) and infections. As a result of his injuries, Mr. Sharpe passed away.
Ramrattan, Latchmin S. E/O vs. Pompano Health and Rehabilitation Center
Allegations: Rai Ramrattan, the personal representative of Latchmin Ramrattan’s estate, filed a lawsuit against Pompano Health and Rehabilitation Center. According to the case’s complaint, the facility’s staff failed to provide Ms. Ramrattan with appropriate care, resulting in her development of sepsis, respiratory failure, and malnutrition.

May 4th, 2023, Inspection at Pompano Health and Rehabilitation Center
During this inspection at Pompano Health and Rehabilitation Center, it was determined that staff failed to perform appropriate catheter care to prevent the spread of infections.
January 21st, 2022, Inspection at Pompano Health and Rehabilitation Center
Based on record review, interviews, and observations, investigators found that staff at Pompano Health and Rehabilitation Center had failed to prevent a resident from developing pressure ulcers, also known as bed sores. The resident, identified as Resident #101 in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) report, had entered the facility without any skin breakdown. It was noted in Resident #101’s chart that she was at risk of developing bed sores due to preexisting medical conditions. Staff should have been providing Resident #101 with preventative wound care to prevent any skin breakdown, but did not, resulting in a quarter-size heel ulcer with necrotic tissue.
