Corporate Owner Shake Up in Brighton Gardens and Stratford Court

In 2018, corporate conglomerate Welltower spent $368 million in a multi-state deal, acquiring many long term care facilities from Senior Housing Properties Trust, the former REIT owner. Welltower purchased Stratford Court of Boca for $130 million.

This resulted in a change of the corporate ownership and licensee in both Stratford Court and Brighton Gardens in November of 2018. However, Sunrise Senior Living continues to manage both long term care properties pursuant to a triple-net lease and Welltower owns 34% of Sunrise Senior Living.
