Two Delray Beach police officers took a weekend trip to Key West which tragically turned fatal. Officer Christine Braswell and Officer Bernendea Marc were riding tandem on a scooter Saturday when they were hit by an oncoming car. Both Braswell and Marc were airlifted to Jackson Memorial in Miami. Unfortunately, Officer Christine Braswell died at the young age of 40.

Key West Scooter Crash Details
The Key West scooter crash occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday April 8 at 3 AM. The location of the crash was Truman Avenue and White Street. According to reports, Key West resident Lacy Morris, 31, made a left to turn into Dion’s Quik Mart. To make the left, Morris’ car had to cross Truman Ave. This is where the scooter and car collided. Upon impact with the car, both women were thrown from the scooter. At this time, an investigation into the Key West scooter vs. car accident is still ongoing. No citations for fault have been publicly issued for this Key West bike accident.
Remembering Officer Braswell
Braswell will be remembered fondly by family, friends and fellow officers at DBPD. She was a sniper on the SWAT team, a University of Florida alum, and a mentor to younger police officers. Officer Braswell is survived by her mother and brother.
Officer Bernendea Marc is still in critical condition at Jackson. We wish her a speedy recovery.
