The Boca Raton PD is investigating the death of an elderly Manor Care of Boca Raton resident. During the early morning hours of Friday April 12, 2019, the unidentified male resident was seen roaming the halls of Manor Care Boca unattended. This patient had dementia and was in a specific memory care unit within the skilled nursing facility. Allegedly, staff assisted the confused patient back to his bed around 4 in the morning.
The male resident was subsequently found on the floor in his room around 6:30 that morning. By the time that EMS arrived, Manor Care nurses were conducting CPR and utilizing the facility’s AED.
The resident was rushed to nearby Boca Raton Regional where he later died. It is unclear if the man was adequately supervised prior to his fall. Also unclear is whether staff employed bed alarms to alert the nurses when the man got up out of bed.
