Senate Report on Worst Nursing Homes

A recent Senate Report highlighted nearly 400 nursing homes that have constantly under-performed on inspections. These facilities, known as Special Focus Facilities (SFFs), are some of the worst nursing home in America. Approximately 400 of the  15,700 nursing homes nationwide qualify for the SFF qualification due to a “persistent record of poor care”. The report details that these SFF facilities “persistently underperform in required inspections” and “substantially fail to meet the required care standards and resident protections afforded by the Medicare and Medicaid programs.”

Shockingly, 17 of these facilities are located in the state of Florida.
