State Investigation of Heartland of Boca
In May of 2016, State of Florida officials inspected the Heartland of Boca nursing home in a routine survey. Inspectors found the following deficiencies which resulted in citations:
F 0425: Failing to Safely Provide Medications and Prescription Drugs
Based on observation, interview and policy review, State of Florida officials cited Heartland of Boca for failing to provide prescribe medications in a timely manner for residents. Medications errors are a common cause of action in Florida nursing home abuse lawsuits.
F 0364: Failure to Provide Appropriate Nutrition through Diet and Food
Investigators found that diet recommendations were not followed, including the need to serve a pureed diet to at-risk residents.
F 0371: Failure to Appropriately Store, Cook and Serve Food in a Safe Way
Inspectors cited Heartland of Boca Raton for failing to properly refrigerate perishable food. Cutting boards were also thought to possibly contain bacteria.
