Allegations: As a result of the facility’s negligence, Ms. Wyatt developed a stage three bedsore, also known as a pressure ulcer, on her bottom, a stage two bedsore on her sacrum, and stage one bedsores on both heels. Ms. Wyatt also suffered infections as a result of these wounds. The estate of Ms. Wyatt sued Tarpon Bayou Center after her passing due to the negligence she suffered during her residency at the facility.

Allegations: When Ms. Hill was admitted to Tarpon Bayou Center, she was a known fall risk. Based on the facility’s policies and procedures, staff failed to ensure the resident was protected from potential burns by not ensuring that they wear a protective smoking apron during the activity.

Based on observations, interviews, and record reviews, this inspection failed to ensure that two of their residents were not provided their splints to prevent further limb contractures. Both residents are dependent on staff for total care. Splints are applied in order to maintain or prevent a loss of range of motion (ROM).
